5 Lions Megaways: Overview

5 Lions Megaways is a 6×7-reel video slot machine game produced and developed by Pragmatic Play. It can be played online, both via mobile and desktop. 

Theme and Setting 

Set in East Asian and Chinese aesthetics, the game features images and symbols that, according to Feng Shui, would bring good luck. Whether it is the Jin Chan (also known as the money toad), the phoenix, or the dragon, hitting any of them rewards players with a prize. 

Graphics and Sound 

The traditional Chinese figures are seen from the blue background, the frame of the game area, as well as the icons and typeface that were used. The first thing that comes to mind when seeing them are historical Chinese TV and movie dramas. 

In addition, the colors are easy on the eyes, and the contrast makes the foreground pop out. The background gives the illusion that there is no lighting, but the visual works.

Gameplay and Bonuses 

The basic objective of the game is to have at least three symbols of one kind follow a winning pattern on adjacent reels starting from the left. The dragon, phoenix, and money toad provide the highest payout, followed by the fish and tortoise. These, and the bonuses, combine to more than 117,000 ways to win. 

The lion acts as the WILD and substitutes for all symbols except for the yin and yang. The WILD only appears in the inner reels. It also gives a random multiplier that ranges from 1x to 40x. 

Moreover, 5 Lions Megaways also has the Tumble Feature. This means that winning combinations get replaced by other symbols for a chance to get more on a single spin. 

Another feature of the game that differentiates it from the similarly-titled 5 Lions is the Megaways. With it, every spin produces a different number of symbols on every reel. 

The yin and yang are the game’s BONUS symbol. Although they do not get replaced by the Tumble Feature, hitting at least three of them would trigger the Free Spins Round and pay a multiplier depending on how many appear. 

At the start of the Free Spins Round, players are asked to choose among seven lion icons that provide a variety of free spins and multipliers. Landing winning BONUS combinations during the round would reward an additional number of free spins equal to what was chosen at the start of the round. 

There is also the Ante Bet that, depending on what was selected, the game would behave differently. 

Furthermore, the cap is set at 5,000x of the initial bet. Any free spins at that point would be forfeited.
