Pragmatic Play partnered with Wild Streak Gaming to release for mobile and desktop video slot game Big Juan on November 4, 2021. This followed other Mexican-themed games Chili Heat from three years ago and the latter’s Megaways sequel that came out in August.
Hola! Welcome to Mexico, the home of spice and people who are nice, like Juan. Wearing a charro and sombrero while holding pistols in his hands, the title character will guide you in this exciting game that features the great country and its culture.
One will go loco y suerte when playing this exciting fiesta of a video slot.
The sights and sounds of the colorful Mexican culture are on full display in this slot machine game.
Alongside the usual royal card symbols (10, J, Q, K, A) were elements associated with Mexico, such as the title character, the chihuahua, and the hot sauce.
The background music would take one for a ride, with mariachi blaring on every turn.
There are two ways to play and win at Big Juan.
To win in regular mode, form a paying pattern by matching at least three of the same symbol starting from the leftmost reel. There are 40 possible paylines in this game.
There is also the Wild Switch Feature that triggers if six or more of the same symbol appear in the middle reels (between the leftmost and the rightmost reels). They will be replaced by the WILD chili on a flame.
Hitting at least three piñatas enables the Respin Feature. In this second way to play and win big, the round would be played on a 3×3 grid with JACKPOT symbols in play, plus a fourth wheel to determine the action that would occur to the spin (WIN or BOOST).
Winning 2,600x of the initial bet stops the game and delivers the payout.
Big Juan is fun and entertaining, especially to those who are beginning to play slots. The music and graphics are enough for one to get hooked.
The settings are easy to understand. Toggle preferences from the speed of every spin to disabling the animation and music.
The base game has an RTP rate of 96.7% (slightly lower when activating Buy Bonus). This is due to its 40 paylines that can give a decent payout for every spin, plus the bonus feature with the piñatas.
In two playtests with the maximum allowable bet set on Autoplay of 100 spins, each generated 27 winning spins.
In the first Autoplay, there were 12 instances that had a payout more than the bet. The Respin Feature was triggered at the 67th spin, generating a sizable prize (from 13 free spins) after winning the Mini Jackpot that was worth 12.5% of the bet.
Overall, the final credit increased by 6.675% of the initial capital and at one point, had a peak of 12.7% of the capital bet allocated.
The second run had a better performance despite not getting any bonus spins and only having 11 payouts that amounted higher than the wager. This was after a base game spin had a large reward. The capital also peaked higher than the first, finishing with a larger final credit at the end of Autoplay.
Overall, Big Juan looks great, from the peripherals to the payouts. Want a taste of Mexico and to win big at the same time? This game is for you.
